Visitors to Paris

Here are a few people I had the pleasure to meet this summer.

A Paris illusion

I saw this on rue Georges V. It is a fake facade covering a building being renovated. Gaudi inspiration? Or Dali? At any rate, I loved it and took many photos. The tree is real!

Paris details

Very often when I walk through Paris, I tend to forget the "big picture" and concentrate on details.

Japan in Paris?

As I was walking the other day, I saw this happy Japonese woman taking a photo with her phone ... of a view that might have remembered her of home?

Le Senat

Details on my way to the Senat. An old front door being painted and buildings reflecting in a light fixture.

I noticed the design in the pavement as I entered the Senat (at Jardin du Luxembourg).

The grand escalier has seen many politicians, heads of States and celebrities walk up and down.

I think that I prefer this back room staircase to the grand formal one.

Enjoying a nice day in Paris

When things are quiet, you can still see a few cats in cemeteries.
This one was perched up and seemed to enjoy an almost spring-like day in le cimetiere Saint Vincent.

Saint Etienne du Mont

I always stop at this church on my way to rue Mouffetard.

Happy New Year from Paris

I think a photo of the Eiffel Tower is the best way to end my blog for 2006.
Wishing you all the best in 2007.
It seems like I have less and less time to spend at the computer but I will try to keep on updating my blog on a regular basis between my trips elsewhere (see my other blog a photographer abroad).

A bientot!

Musee du Quai Branly

A couple of days ago I went to "investigate" the new museum at Quai Branly which was opened a bit in a hurry as it has to be remembered as one of the accomplishments of the Chirac presidency.

The Eiffel tower can be seen from many areas and adds a great dimension to the museum experience.
There is a glass wall protecting the museum and the gardens from the busy quai.

View from the pedestrian bridge going from Quai Branly to right bank.
It really is a great experience to go there as the museum (Design by Jean Nouvel who also designed Institut du Monde Arabe and Fondation Cartier) is beautiful and the use of the space with glass and gardens is amazing. I understant there is a restaurant on the roof top that offers exquisite views. I spent 6 hours there and was really amazed the whole time.

An anniversary walk by Louvre and Palais Royal

Carol and Herbert were in Paris to celebrate their wedding anniversary. A first time visit and the weather could not have been nicer.
I will post a few more images tomorrow as blogger is "acting up" (again!).

Around Rue Mouffetard and Pantheon

Today was a beautiful mild September day. I took a good walk around rue Mouffetard and its market. So much more lively than the famous (to Americans) Rue Cler. At the bottom of the street there are songs and music and couples actually do danse. What a good way to start your Sunday morning.

I have to say that I have not been very good at sitting at my computer lately. It seems to be a "winter activity" and there are many gaps in my blog. But keep on visiting and things could improve!

Fall is in the air

I noticed some early signs of Fall.

The kiosque des noctambules is all boxed in and under refurbishing for a few weeks.
Water fountains at Louvre were working except for 1. It adds so much to the decor.

Galerie Vivienne is always worth a quick visit and the gardens at Palais Royal and Luxembourg were beautiful

Croissant

I just decided to start one of my many little diets. As always, my favorite topic of conversation then is ... food.

Mon chat

With all the carry on restrictions and my very nomadic way of life, I had to reach the conclusion that my cat had to be adopted. She found a great match and we hope all the parties involved will live happily ever after. It was a difficult decision to make and this is the last photo I took of her. I have the impression that she knew that something was "cooking".
