New lense

I love my new wide angle lense.
Used here at Galerie Vivienne.

Opera/Palais Garnier

It is difficult to photograph buildings at night
(without a tripod) but I keep on trying!

Tripods in Paris can be a nuisance.
Crowds, traffic, vibrations, permits in some areas make it too much of a struggle for me.

Flower shop

One of the many flower shops in Paris. I like the contrast added by the red store next door.

Chatelet

More fountains.
Light has to be right (shining through) and speed has to be just so.
(I am just now realizing that this photo would look better with a border because of white sky and no color separation).

Madeleine

Warm winter afternoon light on la Madeleine.

Machine a coudre

I saw this through my window on Sunday morning and it made me smile!

Palais Garnier

I love the Chagall ceiling at Palais Garnier.
All paintings are on canevases stretched and attached to ceiling.

This is not the same technique as Sixtine Chapel!

Shopping the French way

I always have my camera with me or at least a small digital one that fits in my pocket on the days where taking photos is not at the top of the agenda.

The French and their dogs are an endless subject.

I am a "cat person" BTW but who could resist such a cutie?

Henri IV

I think Henri IV does not look so
"royal" when you look at him from this angle!

Sacre Coeur one more time

This is the statue on the left of Sacre Coeur.
Looking up is always a good idea!

Sacre Coeur again

Possibilities for photos around the Sacre Coeur are endless!

A favorite

Of the hundreds of photos that I have taken in Paris, this one is a favorite.
Late afternoon at the Louvre entrance before they started to work on the fountains.

It was a very magic moment.

Sacre Coeur and Montmartre

Sacre Coeur... tourists favorite church in Paris according to what I read.
Try to shoot it without people in the image!

Palette

Fascinating to look at artists working in Montmartre.
They do not often want to be photographed unless you buy one of their pieces.

I had to go for a not-so-obvious image and ended up liking it a lot.

Sunset

A photo that I took from top of Arc de triomphe at sunset.
Depth of field was carefully checked in order to have sharpness all through the image. (camera set on aperture priority)

St Vincent

Of all the statues in cemeteries, this is my favorite.

Walk around your subject.

This photo is taken from the back.

Manege de la Tour Eiffel

Taking a photo of the Eiffel tower is not as easy as one might think. There are the obvious shots from Trocadero or Ecole Militaire.
A little walking around can lead to a more satisfying image.

Escaliers in Montmartre

When I am in Montmartre I sometimes wait a long time to take a photo of the stairs because I do not want people in the picture especially when they obviously do not look like locals.
When I saw this scene however, I found it just right and
clicked.
I had made sure that the camera was set on aperture priority in order to have that railing sharp at the top.

More lips. These were near Madeleine on the sidewalk.

Small surprises as you are walking around.

These graffiti give the expression "watch your step" a new meaning.

I zoomed in, cropped a little bit in photoshop and quickly added some pink to the lips.

I love taking photos of fountains and in Paris we do have some interesting ones.
These lips are part of the Stravinsky fountain next to the Pompidou museum.
I took it in the afternoon in November when the sun was low and back-ligthing the subject.
